A Decade and a Half of Artistic Devotion: My Volunteering Journey at BAPS Mandir !!
Jignesh Patel – Dec 2023
For a decade and a half, my weekends have been marked by the rhythmic cadence of brushes against canvas within the sacred walls of BAPS Mandir. Volunteering as an artist for the mandir decoration team has been an enriching journey, offering me more than I could have anticipated when I first picked up a paintbrush for this noble cause.
In the quietude of the mandir, my creativity unfolds, weaving spiritual fulfillment into every stroke. Volunteering transcends the realm of artistic expression, becoming a deeply spiritual experience that connects me to something greater than myself.
The collaborative nature of this artistic endeavor has forged enduring bonds within the community. Working alongside like-minded individuals who share a passion for art and devotion has created a sense of camaraderie, turning my volunteering hours into cherished moments of shared creativity.
Each stroke of my brush becomes a testament to the preservation of cultural heritage. Contributing to the mandir’s aesthetic appeal allows me to actively participate in maintaining and celebrating the rich cultural tapestry embedded within its architecture and decor.
Fifteen years of dedicated volunteering have served as an ongoing art masterclass. The continuous exploration of different themes, styles, and techniques has honed my artistic skills, allowing me to evolve as an artist with every project undertaken for the mandir.
Volunteering at BAPS Mandir gives a profound sense of purpose to my artistic endeavors. Knowing that my creations contribute to the uplifting atmosphere of the sacred space instills a deep sense of responsibility and meaning in every brushstroke.
Volunteering regularly on Fridays and Saturday evenings, sometimes stretching into late nights, has instilled in me a strong sense of time management and commitment. Juggling my professional and personal life alongside these dedicated hours has taught me the value of prioritization and discipline.
Offering my art as a form of seva (selfless service) has cultivated gratitude and humility within me. The opportunity to share my talents for a higher purpose reminds me of the importance of giving back to the community and staying grounded in the spirit of selflessness.
As the years unfold, my artistic contributions become part of the mandir’s legacy. Each piece I create contributes to the visual narrative of the mandir, leaving an indelible mark that future generations can admire and draw inspiration from.
In essence, my volunteering journey at BAPS Mandir has been a transformative odyssey, offering not just an opportunity to showcase my artistic abilities but also providing a holistic and spiritually uplifting experience. The joy derived from contributing to the cultural and spiritual vibrancy of the mandir is a testament to the profound impact that volunteering can have on one’s life.
